To help you cope with the endless amounts of sugar and candy that inevitably comes with Valentine's day, we have Dental Health Month. Any holiday that comes with an upsurge of candy and sweets gets me worrying about cavities so this is a perfect opportunity to bring out some activities to help teach the kids about taking care of their teeth.
Today the kids took turns playing with tooth brushes and floss. These giant molars are made with soda bottle bottoms. They practiced brushing all around the tooth. They had to try to get the front, back, and sides of the tooth.
Then, we used this model of a mouth to show what happens when food hides where the brush can't get to it. The girls used floss to clean between the egg carton teeth to get the bits of "food" wedged in.
Are you doing any thing with your kids to learn about dental health this month? Leave a comment and let us know what you are doing. And thanks for stopping by!
