Apples, apples all around!

Apples were every where this week! We read 10 Apples Up On Top by Dr. Seuss. And The Apple Pie that Papa Baked by Lauren Thompson. Afterwards we tried to balance an apple on our heads while we walked around the room. Birdy and her friend found out that this was not as easy as it looked in the book! They had a little easier time throwing their apple shaped bean bags at their targets. Both these girls have good arms!

But the most fun was had making our apple pie play dough. I have a great no cook recipe that I use when we make play dough and it is just as easy as...well...pie! The girls loved to help measuring and pouring and did a great job taking turns. Here is the recipe we used.

Take 1 cup water
3cups flour
1 1/2 cups salt
1/4 cup oil
What ever coloring or extras you would like to add.

Birdy's dinosaur is never far away.

An apple pie ice cream sundae.

We left ours the plain dough color, but added cinnamon and cloves for a really wonderful smell. Then we took our rolling pins and our craft store foam apples and made pies! The girls had so much fun. They didn't want to quit! Bug quite enjoyed himself too, although I did notice a few of the apples had tiny little teeth marks in them. The whole thing did look good enough to eat, and smelled great too.

I am really sorry about the word verification. I have been getting TONS of spam and this is the only way I can get a handle on it. I do love to hear what you have to say and hope that you will still take the time to comment. Thank you.
